Vinhos Toscano, Lda is a family owned company with background connected with winemaking that dates back to more than a century, coming from the vineyards the main source of yield to the support and education of the family, situation that covered some generations, taking over that role the grandsons and great grandsons.
These fearless people prevailed the cliffs that stacked in uncultivated land, with the aim to give them new soil texture with the implementation of noble grape varieties that prevail in Douro, such as Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca, among others, so that they produce high quality grapes for DOC Douro still wines and Port wines.
Vinhos Toscano patriach, knowing the family background, built this company to where he transfered all the wine area heritage, so that it could have a professional management.
What was considered a hobby, more than twenty years ago, due to other professional responsibilities, quickly has become a duty, growing together with impulses of those who cooperate with Vinhos Toscano.
Currently Vinhos Toscano has got a wine exploitation with more than 40 acres of vineyards, located in the heart of Douro, at S. João da Pesqueira, Portugal, fully mechanized, which favors the treatments and the evolution of the vineyards. Almost all of the vineyards are located in terraces/plateau because of the orography of the land, providing a better preservation of the soil and erosion control.
From the 40 acres of vineyards, about 10 acres produce white grapes, from varieties such as Chardonnay, Viosinho, Códega do Larinho, Rabigato, Gouveio, Verdelho and Arinto, among others. They will produce supreme quality wines, that will cheer up many guests and will give health to whom joy is essential to exist...
