Douro is one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world, and it is a World Heritage. I have to go there on work again and again, but I never get tired of that landscape and the meticulous way they handle those vineyards, almost like a garden. When we go up the river, we can enjoy all over that rocky, hard, dry land, but where vineyards feel very well, producing excellent wines [...]

In one of those journeys, I visited the company Vinhos Toscano, Lda, whose production is in S. João da Pesqueira region, the county where there is the greatest number of wine producers in Douro. Though the estate also produces Port wine, they sell it to the big export producers, and only produce still wines with their own brands.

Simple people, with all that rural environment, that they know so well, but with such a strong will to work and win, that not even the extreme temperatures of the region can go against.

It was in this family atmosphere that I got to know this company, where everyone is involved, since the monitoring of the vineyards and it’s growth, going through winemaking works in the modern cellar, till the promotion and sales of the wines, when they are ready.

With them I enjoyed a glass of their wonderfull wine, while we had a good conversation...
